The Municipality of Tavira, hereinafter referred to as the Municipality, considers it essential to respect the privacy and protection of personal data provided to it, as the entity responsible for its processing.
The processing of personal data will be in accordance with this Privacy Policy and in compliance with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of April 27, 2016 – General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) – and other applicable national legislation on privacy and data protection.

Why do we need your information?
In the pursuit of its activity, the processing of data carried out by the Municipality falls within the scope of specific, explicit and specific purposes, and the duty to inform data subjects is ensured. Only data that is strictly necessary for the pursuit of the intended purposes is requested and collected.
This processing is based on
- Compliance with applicable legal and regulatory obligations;
- As part of the performance of contracts to which the data subjects are party;
- In pursuit of the legitimate interests of the Municipality;
- The data subject’s expression of interest and consent.
Will the information be shared with others?
The Municipality may have to share some of your personal data with other recipients. These include competent entities with which the Municipality is legally obliged to disclose and/or provide information in the course of legally prescribed procedures.
How can you exercise your rights?
In order to exercise your rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, portability or objection to the processing of the personal data you provide, as well as the withdrawal of consent, as provided for in the legislation in force, you must send a written request to the Municipality via email: privacidade@cm-tavira.pt
How long do we keep your data?
We will store your information for the period required by law. If there is no legal requirement, we will only store it for as long as is necessary to fulfill each processing purpose.
How do we guarantee the security of your data?
The Municipality guarantees adequate levels of security and protection for the personal data of data subjects. To this end, it adopts various technical and organizational security measures to protect personal data against loss, dissemination, alteration, unauthorized processing or access, as well as against any other form of unlawful processing.
However, the Municipality informs us that no security system can guarantee absolute protection.
