Municipal Archive (Casa Cabreira)

In the heart of the historic centre of Tavira

Located next to one of the exits of the Old Bridge over the River Gilão. In 1944, António Cabreira donated the house where he was born to Tavira Town Council so that it could house this Library, Museum and Archive.
In August 2000, work began on restoring and adapting the Casa Cabreira into a Municipal Archive. It was opened on 24 June 2001. Since then, the Municipal Archive has been working on selecting, organising, inventorying and classifying documents according to archival criteria.
