Tavira Island beach
Tavira Island beach is located at the eastern end of Tavira Island, next to the Barra do Cochico, just in front of Tavira.
The path to the Quatro-Águas pier follows the River Gilão and the artisanal fishing fleet that travels from or is berthed there, as well as extensive areas of salt pans, where black-winged stilts (small shorebirds) feed.
Tavira Island beach has been considered by Lonely Planet to be one of the best destinations in the world for family travel.
